Can you eat the sour ones as you pick them? Or are they too sour? Bings aren’t as good for baking or preserving, but they sure make tasty eat-as-you-go picking!
Patricia, these are definitely not good for eating out of hand, which is less thrilling for the girls. Fortunately, there were lots of black raspberry bushes as well, so Anna was able to forage to her heart’s content.
Even though we were there just a few days after they opened for the season, the trees were fairly picked over, and it was definitely hard picking. I was balancing my own fear of heights with my desperate love of sour cherries!
Around here (which is central NY for me right now), the sweet cherry crop mostly failed due to a cold spring. Hoping to be able to pick more of both next year…
